How Did We Come To This?

We, as in, the human race today. I desire to know and understand the history of the universe and humanity.

I am reading Andrew Marr's 'A History of the World' as a primer. So far, what I am taking away from the book is how much of civilization as we know today was formed in the turbulence of war and territorial conquest.

I want to plot the history of my country vis a vis the events of the world at that time. How are we connected?

For we are all connected. And it is all connected. I want to visualize the connections. I want to be able to tell the story of the world, and understand why it is the way it is so I can tell my child/ren. 

The story of the world is the story of us.
